Oxygen with Holysam: The event you should never miss.

"If this same crowd turns up for OXYGEN, bro, I go happy" Holysam said to me as we stood at either corners of the entrance to the church auditorium which was going to later serve as our venue for "OXYGEN WITH HOLYSAM; TALES OF AN AFRICAN CHILD" in the evening of the same day, 16-12-2018.
Audience at the Oxygen with Holysam
We had been planning for this maiden edition for two years and when the time finally arrived, it felt like we hadn't planned enough. The entire crew of Everland Media and Entertainment which I happen to be the manager and CEO had doted all our I's and crossed all our t's. The venue was set, the performing acts were in town and our stage play was ready to blow minds away BUT everything still looked "not enough".

With my fears buried deep down, I said to holysam, " You had better be prepared for overflow. All the seats in NIESV building, Alagbaka will not be enough to contain the crowd that will fall into this place". We smiled and waited patiently for the hour to arrive.
Audience having a good time at the event

On the flier, we had put 4pm for the stipulated time for red carpet and the show was meant to start by 4:30pm but sad to say that "Nigerian Time" still lingers in the hearts of many. Our lights came up before 4pm and we patiently waited for the audience to arrive. Two families strolled in at 4pm and thirty minutes later, we still had more comedians, musicians and crew than spectators.

My mind remained unshaken because I knew we had employed the best strategies ever thought of for a show in the city of Akure. And I wasn't disappointed, in the space of ten minutes, the rows began to get filled up and at 5pm, the seats were all taken. We allowed the red carpet to go on while we couldn't wait any further for the show to begin.

The show kicked off with Mc Labanj who was the anchor. He dropped joke after joke as he called up the comedians who cracked ribs like it's never been seen before in the history of Akure. The comedians in no particular order left the crowd thirsting for more. Karntin, Sweet Steve, Arkbishop, Tosjah, Whales, Jingle, Melodite, Willymouth, Mc Shayor, Awo, Layor, Hondastevo, Eniobanke, Mc Flex and the list continues in "OXYGEN 2.0".

After about thirty minutes of comedy and music, we came up for our stage play (check next article). The play was written by my humble self, Ololade Akinmolayan. It followed the trends that took place in Nigeria in 2018 and if you were there on Sunday evening and you didn't enjoy anything, the play definitely would have blown your mind away.

Every character, every costume, every phrase,  every action made the crowd marvel at the level of creativity and delivery. Mz_fleky sold "jibowu pancake", Olalounpe was our damsel from " Berger to Ajah", the dancing senator was well represented by Mc Shayor and Mc Lively had nothing on me. You should have seen the way I almost devoured Mz Loveth our reporter from Sahara reporter all in the name of acting like an angry man. Holysam was in pains all through the play and you will only understand this part if you were there. In short, the play woke the audience up from any slumber that might have bewildered them all along.

Spoken word by Bimbo, musical performances by Moyinoluwa, Victory and Love. From the National anthem to the love songs, the stage was lit up. (Apologies to all the musicians who couldn't perform).

This is the first of many to come, "OXYGEN WITH HOLYSAM" was a success by all measurements. Do not miss the next edition while I entertain you with an array of beautiful shots by Motayo gallery and Tosin Xnap.
